I have created a questionnaire for my market research to help me decide if i have chosen the right target audience and ideas for my film trailer, also by creating this questionnaire it will help me organise my film codes and conventions that i should, or should not include in my film trailer. i can see what has worked and haven't worked throughout my research into film trailers and could change my essential ideas and ruff planning at this stage.
My aim of this questionnaire is to get a wide field in what people are wanting to see in a film trailer, I want to make my trailer unique and not a cliche I want to make my questionnaire a personal incite of what people want and what there expectations and tastes are so I'm going to ask questions with a wide range of answers or in addiction to add reasons why etc.

I have learnt from my Questionnaire that:
- That between the age of 17-18 they would rather watch/go to see a 18 or a 15 as they are scary, even though rated 18 you can show much more gore, rated 15 has a much wider audience and even though there are limitations; but this should not be a problem as my film is not a teen slasher, its more of a physiological horror about a ghost.
- That more males would watch my film than females. Males to the cinema and to go see horror films with there friends or couples(females wouldn't go with there girl friends but there boyfriends)
- That they would like to buy the film for £5.99 and extra features would help them choice that film
- that in a horror trailer they would expect some voice overs and music relating to my genre
- they would like an obvious storyline with blood, screaming and fast short clips with jumpy music.
- That it should be released near Halloween (they would be to old to go trick or treating so they would go to the cinema?)
- Mag and poster should be cheap and competitive at £5.99.
- The name of my Film shall be Necromancy, The other titles seemed to be to cliche and most people agreed and would rather the title necromancy. Fury got the second most votes, people said that this seemed the second most suited title for my film story line.
I posted my questionnaire on facebook as many people would respond to this quickly and easily, better then asking people on streets, and in my own school as the age range would be a poor, so many different people with different ages responded to this post and filled in the answers, i have taken a print screen of a bit of proof; not all the post could fit into the print screen. Facebook is a good way to get good feedback and quick answers from "the audience" itself..and also a mixture of people.
This is my blackberry phone, a lot of teens have blackberry phones now, i copied and pasted my questionnaire from my blog onto my phone and "broadcastedBBM, facebook, twitter, iphone apps etc... to keep up the fast trend of what their target audiences are doing, also is another way to get quick easy feedback from people.
As you can see i sent the broadcast, you can see that my status is "answer my questionnaire" and can see some of my contacts that i were already talking to about my trailer, you can read the "what age rated certificate..." so i will get a better print screen. Also asking per person takes time but you get a very personal reply.
So i am going to base my film genre on horror, and aimed at my target audience at couples and men, as these are the most likely audience to want to watch the film in a group or together. My trailer will include a productive beginning to lay the storyline, then show some scenes of bad things happening; then some cover lines to tie in with the bad situations and footage- then fast jumpy scenes towards the end with fast jumpy music, including screams and blood with an obvious storyline with my monster etc to be unknown to add mystery.. My music will link in with my genre and will decide whether to put in voice overs or not. I want to stay away from Forrest scenes even though my market research says they would expect Forrest scenes, i feel this has been overdone and to cliche.
My certificate rating would be 15, as most people that took my questionnaire were 17; not old enough for an 18 film in the cinemas, so i am going to rate it at 15 as it has much wider audience. But cannot show that much blood and gore, but i would not need to as my storyline is based on a little girl ghost film as a physiological horror; not a teen slasher/thriller type film.
